A MAN who allegedly watched a family member being restrained at a Wimborne pub punched two barmen in the face as they tried to keep him calm.

Jordan Allner had been drinking with a relation at the Olive Branch when a row broke out, magistrates have heard. The relation was then allegedly restrained by door staff.

Matthew Hulls and Arpad Lok, both of whom work for the pub, noticed Jordan Allner “trying to intervene”, a court has heard.

The two victims tried to calm Allner down, but he suddenly lashed out, punching both of the men and swearing at them. Neither of the victims were badly injured.

Allner, of Parkstone Heights in Poole, admitted two counts of assault by beating at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday, July 27.

James Moore, mitigating for the 22-year-old, said the defendant’s last offence was committed in September 2012.

“There is an element of maturity having taken place,” Mr Moore said.

“He has lived a crime-free life for the past six years. He doesn’t go out often.”

He alleged Allner's relation was “quite intoxicated” when the row broke out at the pub, the court heard.

“The family member gets involved in a situation and Mr Allner sees him being dealt with,” Mr Moore said.

“Mr Allner says he’s watching security deal with [the relation] and thinks it’s completely excessive. He thought they didn’t need to do that.

“He then tried to get involved so they’d leave him alone.”

The defendant was “angry with his relation, but also with the way his relation had been treated,” it was heard.

“He made one strike in relation to both individuals,” Mr Moore said.

“It tugs the heart strings to see a family member involved in something like this and feel they are helpless.”

Allner was discharged conditionally for 12 months and ordered to pay £150 in compensation to each of the victims. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.

A 27-year-old man has denied affray in connection with the incident. A trial is due to take place at Poole Magistrates' Court.
