A MAN put his fist up to a woman after a road rage row in north Dorset last week.

Police are calling for witnesses following the incident, which happened at around 8.30am on Friday, July 20 near the Ivy Cross roundabout on the A350 in Shaftesbury.

The victim, a woman in his 20s, was exiting the roundabout in her black Volkswagen Golf when a silver Mercedes suddenly stopped in front of her.

The driver of the Mercedes then moved the car forward before stopping again moments later. The victim put her hazard lights on to warn the vehicle behind her.

She could see the male driver of the Mercedes making gestures towards her from inside his car. She indicated to overtake the silver car, but before she could do so, the man got out and opened her driver's side door.

He then put his fist just below her chin and shouted at her before getting back in his car and driving off.

Police Community Support Investigator Luke White said: “This was understandably very distressing for the victim and we are carrying out a number of enquiries into the incident."

Officers are calling for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. The driver of a blue Peugeot which was immediately behind the Golf is asked to speak to police.

“I would also urge anyone with dashcam footage who was in the area at the time to check their footage to see if they have captured the incident," said PCSI Wright.
