A GLOBAL company has invested £2million in a new building which is creating around 50 jobs in Bournemouth.

Carlisle Fluid Technologies makes equipment for applying and treating sprayed materials including paints, coatings, powders and bonding materials.

It welcomed the company’s president to open the its Site B electronics division at on a 10-acre plot at Ringwood Road.

The company’s history in the town goes back to 1961, when DeVilbiss moved to Ringwood Road, having bought and expanded the factory. DeVilbiss remains one of the company’s well-known brands, along with Binks, MS, Ransburg and BGK.

Its expansion into its Site B has cost £2million, bringing its capital spending in the area to £5.8m in the past 18 months. It has created 29 permanent jobs and 21 temporary posts.

The site opening brings together businesses from other sites in Indiana, Switzerland, Germany and Brazil. It will manufacture paint guns, mixing and powder finishing products.

Carlisle Fluid Technologies’ customers include the aerospace, motor, defence and ceramic industries.

Bournemouth site manager Alex Norris said: “From 1961, Bournemouth has been a critical manufacturing site, for what was once DeVilbiss to who we are now as Carlisle Fluid Technologies.

“CFT Bournemouth has served as the hub for cutting-edge research, design and production of key products and solutions within our business. Having worked with this Manufacturing Footprint Optimisation project from inception, I am delighted to see Carlisle’s continued investment in this site and the local community.

“It’s a vote of confidence in the team here, and cements the site in Bournemouth as a cornerstone of Carlisle Fluid Technologies’ growth plans.
