FIRE crews tackled a blaze on open land at Bournemouth Airport.
Airport-based firefighters were involved, as were a Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Christchurch.
A Ryanair flight from Krakow in Poland has been diverted to Bristol.
A Bournemouth Airport spokesman said: “There was a grass fire close to the airport runway, with the airport fire and rescue service extinguishing the fire within 15 minutes.
"With firefighters still on site, damping down, it was necessary for safety reasons to divert a Ryanair flight from Krakow to Bristol.
"It is too early to establish what caused the fire but the prolonged dry weather may well be a factor. We apologise for any inconvenience and advise passengers to directly contact their airline for travel updates."
