THE future of Bournemouth's historic buildings is being put to residents.

The council has commissioned a report into three conservation areas in Old Christchurch Road, East Cliff and West Cliff and Poole Hill, in a bid to balance heritage preservation and housing need.

These conservation areas, "where Victorian Bournemouth began" the council says, are subject to special limitations on development.

Now residents are being invited to share their thoughts via a consultation questionnaire.

Councillor David Smith, cabinet member for planning, said: “This is a great opportunity for residents and those with an interest in the areas to have their say on key parts of the town centre and to help shape how they look and feel in the future."
