FAMOUS cricketers will be on the ball when they visit Christchurch for a fundraising match.

A celebrity squad including left-arm spinner Monty Panesar, internationally fast right-arm bowler Devon Malcolm and Gordon Greenidge MBE, a former Barbadian first-class cricketer who was one half of the famous batting pair named Greenidge-Haynes will be taking part in the event at Chapel gate on Friday, August 3, in aid of the new Macmillan Caring Locally specialist palliative care unit at Christchurch Hospital.

Special guest Henry Blofeld, a retired English sports journalist and cricket commentator for Test Match Special on BBC Radio 4 and BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra will be there to provide commentary on the match.

Cricket fans are invited to attend the20/20 match to see their heroes in action, and to help raise money for Brick by Brick, the charity's appeal for the new unit which will care for patients with advance or incurable illnesses such as cancer.

Admission to the event is free, but donations are welcome.
