A MAN who suffered a serious spinal injury had to be evacuated from the beach at Studland's Shell Bay at the weekend.
Paramedics, Poole RNLI Lifeboat volunteers and members of Swanage Coastguard took part in the medical evacuation.
The lifeboat was called to assist just after 5pm on Saturday (July 14), by the UK Coastguard.
As the lifeboat arrived on scene three crew went ashore to assist paramedics, helping them move the casualty onto a spinal board.
After he was made comfortable, the man was transferred to a waiting ambulance, which had been standing by on Ferry Road, Studland, then taken on to Poole Hospital for further treatment.
Poole RNLI volunteer senior helm Jonathan Clark said: "It is always tricky to evacuate casualties from the shoreline and beaches where there is no immediate access.
"This was a multiagency medical evacuation and we all wish the casualty well."
