SCORES of French crew-men and woman could have smiles on their faces aboard a Brittany Ferries crossing to Poole on Sunday.

The Barfleur is set to travel from Cherbourg to Poole shortly after the conclusion of the World Cup final between Croatia and France.

More than 400 passengers, mainly English, will be on board reflecting on what might have been for the Three Lions.

The company has said safety, security and well-being of passengers will be the crew's first priority.

Brittany Ferries are operating 10 crossings between France and England on Sunday.

Christophe Mathieu, Brittany Ferries French CEO, said: “I hope our English customers will forgive a barman if he takes his eyes off the pump to catch a glimpse of an Mbappé run towards goal,” “But also please spare a thought for colleagues who work in other parts of the ship: on the bridge, in our shops, engine rooms and other departments. They will be taking one for the team this Sunday, for sure.”
