A MAN was hit on the head with a piece of wood by two would-be robbers who demanded money from him in Ringwood. The incident happened as the victim, a man in his 20s, was walking along a pathway between Ringwood Leisure Centre and Manor Road between 9.10pm and 9.20pm on Wednesday.

He was approached by two men who demanded money. He was then struck on the back of his head by an object, believed to be a piece of wood, before the men continued to demand money. After the victim told then men he had no money on him, they left the area back along the footpath in the direction of School Lane. Nothing was stolen.

One of the men has been described as white, between 5ft 10ins and 5ft 11ins tall, slim, with short brown hair, and wearing a white T-shirt with dark blue jeans.

The second man was described as white, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, slim, with short dark hair, and wearing a dark top and dark bottoms.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, and are particularly keen to speak to a cyclist who was seen on the footpath to the rear of Ringwood School, as he may have seen the men leaving the area.
