A HOMELESS man has been banned from two Christchurch coffee shops for a year after admitting a series of offences.

David Holt, 31, has been ordered not to enter branches of Costa Coffee and Caffe Nero in Saxon Square by magistrates in Poole.

The defendant has admitted using threatening or abusive words or behaviour within the hearing or sight of a person likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress at Caffe Nero on June 21, as well as separate charges of criminal damage at Costa Coffee on June 7 and using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent at Costa on June 6.

In addition, Holt admitted commission of a further offence while the subject of a 12-month conditional discharge order. The order was made in April for using threatening or abusive words or behaviour at Bookends in Christchurch High Street on March 16.

For the most recent set of offences, Holt was sentenced to a community order with a 12-month exclusion requirement.
