THOUSANDS of people turned out for one of Dorset's sweetest events this weekend.
Children stepped into a Roald Dahl story for the Burton Scout Carnival today. Youngsters - and sporting adults - dressed as characters from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for the popular parade, which left Burton School at 11am.
Floats travelled through the village to Burton Rec. Visitors then enjoyed a number of activities.
The timing of the carnival was moved forward due to the World Cup - a good move from organisers after England claimed victory over Sweden.
