DELAYS are expected as temporary traffic lights are introduced near a Christchurch roundabout for two weeks from Monday.

Three-way lights will be in place at the junction of Matchams Lane and Avon Causeway while engineers carry out footpath works between 9am and 4pm.

This follows the implementation of three-way lights at Hurn roundabout from 10pm this Friday.

Dorset County Council has warned all directions of traffic will need to be stopped for around 15 minutes to allow for the unloading of specialist equipment for Moors Bridge maintenance.

The overnight traffic lights at the roundabout will return on Monday, July 9, to allow a new channel to be dug for BT cabling.

It is expected this will require the traffic measure to remain in place for three nights, but the council warns it could take up to five.

The works are all part of the revised scheme to improve traffic flow at Hurn roundabout.

The project is part of Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership's Bournemouth International Growth programme.

Work at Hurn roundabout is due to be completed by late-September.
