AFTER a week of being in the headlines for not entirely the right reasons, Sir Christopher Chope spoke with students at a Christchurch school yesterday.
The Conservative MP was invited to a careers event at Christchurch Junior School.
His appearance came less than 24 hours after protestors gathered outside his constituency surgery following his move to block the ‘upskirting’ Private Members’ Bill last week.
Sir Christopher, who has represented Christchurch since 1997 and is a qualified barrister, shared his experiences on the rough and tumble of political life.
He also invited a pupil who wrote to him to visit the House of Commons.
“I thought it was brilliant. It is unusual for a primary school to have a careers day,” Sir Christopher said.
Tactfully, none of the pupils quizzed him over the recent controversy. Or perhaps it hadn’t reached their news agenda.
