HERE'S our guide to some of the main events taking place across Dorset this weekend...

1. The Fete on the Field takes place at King George V playing fields in Ferndown tomorrow. There will be 5k and 10k runs setting off at 11.30am, live music, a fancy dress parade and at 1pm there will be a dog show in a separate arena. This event also sees the return of the popular pram race in aid of the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation at 3pm.

2. Wimborne Vintage Bike Ride is organised as part of the VDub at the Pub festival near the River Stour. Cyclists don tweed and retro shirts/dresses for the fun bike ride which starts at 1.30pm on Saturday.

3. Raise a pint for a good cause at the fifth charity Dorset Beer Festival at Hall & Woodhouse brewery at Blandford St Mary on Saturday from 11am. The festival is in aid of regional air ambulance charities. In addition to the brewery's own Badger range, there will be over 50 beers and ciders available from local micro breweries.

4. Super Saturday at Poole Lifeboat Station starts from 10am tomorrow with a double celebration as Poole Lifeboat Station officially opens the new floating boathouse and names the D class RNLB Gladys Maud Burton. The official naming ceremony starts at 11.30am.

5. Purbeck Plod, is an annual event organised by Ramblers East Dorset Group, which takes place on Sunday with an 8.30am start for walkers and 9.30am start for runners. Registration is at 7.30am. All races start from Swanage Pier and head along the coastal path. There is a choice of a 25 mile, 16-mile and 12-mile routes.

6. The Jazz by the Sea Festival returns for a fourth year with a number of professional jazz musicians coming to town for a fortnight of pure jazz entertainment. The festival gets underway on Sunday at 10am with a series of free performances at the town's monthly street market at Lansdowne.

7. This month's Metropole Market has a Mardi Gras theme and there will be two processions; one at 12pm and another at 2.30pm. Visitors are encouraged to dress up with feathers and masks. Other highlights include Louisiana-style cuisine and live music.

8. England vs Panama at 1pm. The Inferno pub at Lansdowne will be turning its garden into a place to watch the match with a big projector screen in the garden and they will be bringing in a 13-tap free-standing, outside bar to cater for customers.

9. It's the last weekend of the ten-day Bournemouth Food & Drink festival which finishes on Sunday with street food stalls, chefs demonstrations and other activities taking place around the town centre.

10. Classic Cars on the Prom is a popular weekly event which normally takes place on West Overcliff Promenade. On Sunday it will take place at Christchurch Quay from 11am to 5pm. The display is open to all cars and motor bikes registered before August 1983. Free admission.
