BEGINNER golfers are being urged to tee off, after a new course has opened in Dorset.
A joint venture between Hoburne’s Crane Valley Golf Club and Dorset County Golf Union, the newly-opened Head Start Course in Verwood encourages golfers of all ages and playing ability to take part in the game.
The course – which runs alongside the River Crane – makes up nine holes of the 184-acre site which also comprises an 18-hole championship course, floodlit driving range and state of the art clubhouse.
James Slade, Head of Golf at Hoburne, said: “We are dedicated to providing an enjoyable golfing experience for all newcomers to the sport at Crane Valley, which we believe we have successfully achieved with the launch of the Head Start Course.
“Working closely alongside Dorset County Golf Union, we have designed and implemented a truly accessible nine-hole course, suitable for all types of players to have fun playing the sport and learning their craft.”
The course was officially opened by the club’s junior captain Lloyd Richardson who hit the opening shot, followed by a junior and adult fun competition, with record numbers taking part on the par three course, where all holes are under 150 yards long.
