A MAN has been arrested after a woman said her drink was spiked during a first date at the beach.
As reported in the Daily Echo, the victim, who is in her 30s, arranged to meet a man she knew as Johnny in Alum Chine on Sunday, June 10.
The two, who met via a dating website, met at around 4.30pm near Vesuvio. The man then went to buy some bottles of alcohol for them to share.
After the woman drank the alcohol, she went into the sea before returning to the beach. She then began to feel 'strange and disorientated'.
When she challenged the man, he walked off. The victim then collapsed and was helped by members of the public who contacted Dorset Police.
A 40-year-old man from Bournemouth has now been arrested on suspicion of administering a substance with intent to stupefy or overpower to allow sexual activity. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
