PRESSURE is mounting on Christchurch MP Sir Christopher Chope as debate about the upskirting row continues.

Critics have refused to accept his claims that he has been made a scapegoat by colleagues and protests are continuing this morning.

A light-hearted protest in his home town has been widely circulated on social media, leaving its instigator in shock.

Local artist Lorna Rees was so outraged that her local MP objected to the Voyeurism (Offences) Bill that she strung three pairs of pants together as bunting and hung them on the door of his constituency office in Bargates.

Since she tweeted pictures of the pants there have been 10,000 re-tweets, 28,000 likes on Twitter and the image has been shared 13,000 times on Facebook.

Lorna, a 39-year-old mother-of-two, told the Daily Echo: "I'm not the sort of person who shouts and raves at other people so I thought a gentle and light-hearted protest would be more effective.

"I had no idea it was going to take off in the way it did but I'm very glad. Upskirting is a new crime, let's address it quickly."

Across the pants, Lorna wrote the words: "No one should be able to photograph my pants unless I want them to."

She added: "I was so cross when I realised what my local MP had done that I thought I had to do something.

"I'm not a Conservative voter but I know a lot of people who are and they are just as furious as I am."

The MP's office in Westminster has also been adorned with underwear this morning, including skimpy pants and suspenders.

Yesterday, in an exclusive interview with the Daily Echo, Sir Christopher insisted upskirting - the practice of taking pictures up women's skirts - is "vulgar" and that he is opposed to it.

Prime Minister Theresa May promised that upskirting will be made illegal in the near future.

Bournemouth East MP Tobias Ellwood described Chope as "an embarrassment" and he was widely-criticised by members of his own party.

Sir Christopher is today due to meet with members of his constituency association to discuss the controversy.

Sir Vince Cable tweeted: "If Chope keeps the Tory whip we must assume that the label of 'party for perverts' sticks."
