THERE will be something for everyone going on across Dorset this weekend with events for foodies, runners, gardeners and even pirates.

1. Hundreds of people will float down the River Stour on everything from rubber dinghies to inflatable unicorns on Saturday when the fifth Dorset Dinghy Day takes place. The popular event sets sail from Iford Bridge from 12pm and it’s free to take part in the flotilla. Iford Baptist Church will hold a barbecue at the start of the event with all proceeds going to charity.

2. There will be pirate parades, sea shanties and cannons galore at Poole’s Harry Paye Day on Saturday. The annual celebration takes place in honour of Poole’s favourite pirate son Harry Paye. The fun takes place between 12pm and 6pm with live music, a fancy-dress competition, musket displays, belly dancing and rides for children.

3. The first ever Christchurch FlowerFest in aid of Dorset Mind runs until Sunday. The event has taken inspiration from the annual flower festival in Girona, Spain. Local retailers will showcase their ideas and creativity in displaying flowers. Visitors are able to enjoy displays, window presentations and a floral trail through the town.

4. Bournemouth Food and Drink Festival returns to the Square from today until June 24. There will be street food stalls from the likes of The Gourmet Grilled Cheese, La Bonne Crepe and Giggi Gelateria, plus food and drink demonstrations and live music.

5. Hundreds of women will tackle the Poole Pretty Muddy 5k on Saturday with a race also taking place for children ahead of the main event from 10.30am. The Pretty Muddy sees participants scramble over an A-frame and crawl through a mud pit to raise money for Cancer Research UK. Then on Sunday, runners will lace up their trainers to walk, jog or run around Baiter Park at 11am for Race For Life in a bid to raise funds to beat cancer.
