CONTROVERSIAL plans to install solar panels on the roof of a beach hut in Milford-on-Sea are being recommended for approval.

Submitted earlier this year, the application seeks permission to have two panels put on the roof of one of the buildings off Cliff Road.

Despite being opposed by Milford-on-Sea Parish Council due to concerns about the impact the changes would have on the character of the area, the application received 13 comments in support and only three objecting to the proposal.

It was called in for discussion by next week’s meeting of New Forest District Council’s planning committee by Cllr David Harrison where planning officers have recommended that it be approved.
