TWO free outdoor screenings of world-class ballet will take place in the New Forest this summer.

Sandy Balls holiday park in Fordingbridge will host screenings of Swan Lake on June 12, featuring new choreography by Liam Scarlett, with Mozart’s dazzling tragi-comic opera Don Giovanni being shown on July 12.

The screenings live from The Royal Opera House will be held in the front courtyard by The Woodside Inn pub.

Now in its 30th year, the partnership between BP and the Royal Opera House enables more than half a million people across the UK to experience world-class opera and ballet in locations from Aberdeen to the Isle of Wight.

Last year more than 33,500 people attended a BP Big Screen performance.

Swan Lake, which features a score by Tchaikovsky, follows the story of Prince Siegfried who one night encounters a flock of swans, one of whom reveals herself to be a beautiful woman called Odette.

Alex Beard, chief executive of the Royal Opera House said: "Over the years, this collaboration has enabled more than half a million people to experience ballet and opera – many for the first time – and BP’s ongoing commitment means that together we are able to continue bringing the best the Royal Opera House has to offer to an ever-wider audience."

Swan Lake will be shown at 7.30pm and Don Giovanni will be shown at 7pm.
