THIS year’s Poole Harbour Boat Show is to feature a new ‘Family Quay’ to offer something to visitors of all ages.

The show, in association with Sunseeker, is a three-day extravaganza taking place on Poole Quay from June 8-10.

Organisers say there will be something for everybody, with a chance to explore the latest yachts, powerboats, RIBs and tall ships before browsing the hundreds of exhibitors showcasing the very best marine brands.

This year the event organisers, Poole Harbour Commissioners, decided to introduce a dedicated area that the whole family could enjoy together.

As well as promising the best views of the on-water demonstrations and a view of Poole Quay not usually accessible to the public, Family Quay will also feature its own beach, fully-equipped with buckets, spades and the odd bit of treasure.

The weekend will also be full of performances and activities for all ages.

Jim Stewart, chief executive of Poole Harbour Commissiners, said: “We wanted to cater for the whole family at this year’s event. The children can expect to enjoy activities such as free face painting and storytelling pirates and lots more in keeping with our maritime theme.

“With such a wide range of exhibits, displays and attractions we can truly say that there is something for everyone at this year’s Poole Harbour Boat Show in association with Sunseeker.

"Whether you are young or old, an experienced sailor or a complete novice, or even someone that likes to keep their feet firmly on dry ground, we are confident that you will thoroughly enjoy your visit.”

Live music on the Sunseeker Sessions stage will return, along with the Friday night fireworks sponsored by Sibbett Gregory.

The show is free to attend and will open from 10am-6pm on all three days.

The event is also supported by Sibbett Gregory, Coleman Insurance, Conker Spirit, Elite Signs, Greenslade Pleasure Boats, Dorset Cruises, Lester Aldridge, PKF Francis Clark, British Marine Wessex, MS Amlin, Mac Marine Claims, Designosaur and media partners, Bournemouth Daily Echo and Wave 105.
