THE first meeting of a 'shadow' Conservative group for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole is to take place tomorrow, Thursday.
Political groups across the current three boroughs are required to confirm details of their leader and deputy leader, signed by each member, by June 1, prior to next week's first meeting of the shadow authority.
These include the Liberal Democracy and Poole People groups in Poole, the newly-formed Independent and Green group in Bournemouth and the Independent group in Christchurch.
The shadow authority comprises all serving councillors and will, via its executive committee, take over from the Joint Committee in implementing the merger.
Sources within the local Conservative party have suggested several names as candidates for leadership of the new combined Tory group.
These include Poole council leader Cllr Janet Walton, Bournemouth council deputy leader Cllr Nicola Greene and former Christchurch council leader Cllr Ray Nottage.
Also, the Echo understands that the new group's constitution will be based on that of the current Bournemouth Tory group, which is holding an informal meeting today.
