POLICE, fire and ambulance crews were called to a property in Turlin Moor after a fire broke out.

Six police cars, an ambulance and three fire crews were reportedly called to Keysworth Road.

A 51-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and is assisting officers with enquiries.

She has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

No one else was injured.

A spokesperson for Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called to a property at 1.40pm. Three crews from Poole are in attendance.

"There was a fire in the lounge of property. The fire is now out.

"Two hose reel jets and four breathing apparatus were used.

"There was somebody in the property, but they are out and safe.

"Crews are currently clearing the smoke at the property."

Firefighters rescued a cat that was in the property and gave it oxygen before it was taken to a vet for further treatment.

Police closed roads in the area while the incident was dealt with, but they have now been re-opened.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said: "We were called at 1.43pm today by the fire service to reports of smoke coming from an address in Keysworth Road, Poole.

"Firefighters extinguished a fire inside the address. The road was closed at the junction of Turlin Road and Junction Road."

The spokesperson added: "Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team will be conducing high-visibility patrols over the coming days and can be approached with any community concerns."

Yesterday, a property was cordoned off in the road after a concern for welfare call. Residents of nearby properties had to be evacuated following concerns over escaped gas.
