A MAN reportedly threatened a member of the public with a Swiss Army pen knife in a Dorset park.

Officers investigating the incident on Friday afternoon have issued a CCTV image of the suspect.

At 4.48pm Dorset Police was called to reports of a man with a knife in Lodmoor County Park in Weymouth. He reportedly threatened a local man aged in his 50s who was not physically injured.

Police attended and, despite a thorough search involving the dog unit and NPAS helicopter, the man was not located.

Police Constable Lisa Fisher, of Weymouth police, said: “As part of my investigation I am now in a position to issue a photo of the suspect, which was taken by the victim. I would urge anyone who recognises him to please not approach him but contact Dorset Police immediately.

“I would like to reassure members of the public that a detailed investigation is underway to identify and locate this man. Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team have been carrying out high visibility patrols in the park and can be approached with any community concerns.”
