2. Lighthouse, Poole will screen a live broadcast of the UK premiere of McKellen: Playing the Part on Sunday, during which audiences will have the opportunity to celebrate one of Britain’s true acting icons on his birthday weekend.

3. The Armours of Lillie Langtry, the latest comedy by award-winning playwright and TV sitcom writer Joan Greening, will be performed in the dining salon of the Langtry Manor Hotel in Derby Road, Bournemouth at 3.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.

4. Love, Bombs & Apples, billed as "a one-man show with a cutting edge for today's multi-cultural Britain" plays at Lighthouse, Poole on Friday. The political piece of theatre from award-winning playwright Hassan Abdulrazzak highlights the problems in today’s global and multicultural landscape, using comedy.

5. Grumpy Old Women to the Rescue, starring comedians Jenny Eclair, Dillie Keane and Lizzie Roper, stops off at the Regent Centre in Christchurch on Wednesday, as part of its 60-date nationwide tour.

6. Following the success of his Cradle To Grave tour last year, Danny Baker is returning to Wimborne's Tivoli Theatre on Thursday, with his new series of live shows.

7. The music of Stevie Wonder will be celebrated on Saturday, when the Signed, Sealed, Delivered tribute show visits Bournemouth's Pavilion Theatre, featuring American star Lejaune André.

8. Dorset Art Weeks kicks off on Saturday, with a host of artists across the county opening up their studios and workshops to the public. The event runs until June 10.

9. The BSO is hosing a Benevolent Fund Concert in the concert hall at Lighthouse, Poole at 3.30pm on Sunday, celebrating the 60th year of the OBE with works by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Beethoven.
