CHERRIES star Nathan Ake has been named in the Netherlands squad for friendlies against Slovakia and Italy.

Ake has kept his place after impressing national team boss Ronald Koeman during their 3-0 win against Portugal in March.

He will be hoping to add to his six caps for the Oranje when they visit Slovakia on Thursday, May 31 before heading to Italy on Monday, June 4.

Meanwhile, Ake continued his award-winning campaign by scooping the club’s player-of-the-month accolade for May.

The former Chelsea man secured 38 per cent of the vote ahead of striker Joshua King and winger Ryan Fraser.

Ake has won an unprecedented eight out of 10 player-of-the-month awards this season and featured in all 38 of Cherries' top-flight fixtures.

The 23-year-old also recorded a landslide victory in the poll for the prestigious Daily Echo-Micky Cave supporters' player-of-the-year trophy, which is now in its 32nd season.

He received more than 80 per cent of the vote, finishing ahead of runner-up Lewis Cook and Fraser, who was third.
