THERE are just three weeks to go until the start of the Poole Harbour Boat Show in association with Sunseeker.

As well as more than 200 exhibitors, Royal Navy and Border Force vessels, the tall ship Queen Galadriel and the Sunseeker Sessions live music stage, the event – from June 8-10 – will feature on-water activities, sponsored by MAC Marine Claims.

There will be taster sessions on Saturday and Sunday for dinghy and cruiser sailing, provided by Poole Yachting Association.

Visitors to the show will also be able to see dinghy and yacht racing, as well as junior RIB slalom racing on Saturday and Sunday.

The RNLI, Border Force and Poole Harbour Commissioners will be putting on demonstrations which show what their work involves on a day-to-day basis.

There will be an exhilarating display from the new JetSurf, a motorised Surf Board with a top speed of 30-37mph.

The Newfs In Action group will also be making a special appearance on the Saturday, where a spectacular water rescue display will be performed by a 14 stone, lifesaving Newfoundland dog.

A Friday-night firework display celebrates the opening of the show. Sponsored by Sibbett Gregory, a local commercial property consultancy, it’s always a popular event. It begins at 9.45pm.

Jim Stewart, chief executive of Poole Harbour Commissioners (PHC), said: “The weekend is jam-packed with on-water activities this year – which will give visitors to the show a fantastic chance to have a go at a new sport, watch the racing or find out how organisations such as the RNLI train and work. And, once again, we’re expecting a large crowd on the Quay for the Friday night firework display.”

On Saturday and Sunday, PHC will be providing car parking at the ferry terminal for £5 per day. From here visitors can use the free passenger boat service to get to the Quay and the Poole Quay Boat Haven, courtesy of Greenslade Pleasure Boats.

Poole Harbour Boat Show in association with Sunseeker is free to attend and open from 10am-6pm on June 8-10. For details, visit pooleharbourboatshow.co.uk.

On-water-activities are subject to change and weather conditions.
