A "banal" infill development of four new homes has been recommended for approval.
Applicant 1 Nelson Road Developments Ltd wants to demolish the house at 6 Nelson Road, Bournemouth, and build four houses with seven parking spaces.
The scheme has attracted criticism from both ward councillor Andrew Morgan, who said in a letter "this constitutes clear overdevelopment", and also from Bournemouth Civic Society which stated: "We find the architectural details of both principal facades banal and generally inelegant."
At Cllr Morgan's behest the proposal will be discussed by the borough planning board on Monday, May 21.
A report by planning officer Charles Raven states that while the council has rejected two similar prior schemes, a national planning inspector determined last year that the chief grounds for objection – overdevelopment – was invalid.
"As the layout of dwellings is identical to the previous appeal scheme and the last application, where no objections were raised regarding the impact to the character of the area, the council could no longer justify a refusal on this ground," it states.
