THE Princess Royal will be officially opening new workshops at Bovington’s Tank Museum on Friday.

Princess Anne’s visit, the day before her nephew Prince Harry’s wedding, will mark phase four of the museum’s ongoing £14 million redevelopment programme.

A newly-restored World War II tank, named ‘Princess Royal’ in her honour, will also be viewed by HRH during her visit.

Situated next to the Vehicle Conservation Centre, the workshops will enable more work to be carried out on the museum’s renowned collection.

Museum director Richard Smith said: “We feel extremely honoured to have our new, state-of-the-art facility opened by The Princess Royal.

“The workshops will greatly increase the amount of conservation work that can be done on our collection.

“They will help us to retain skills, develop new ones and train staff.”
