A DOG rescue charity based in Dorset has organised a family fun day to raise funds for pets in need.

Staffie and Stray Rescue is hosting its third annual event at Winton Recreation Ground on Sunday, May 27.

The charity is run by a family of Staffordshire bull terrier lovers who find foster and forever homes for unwanted dogs. They campaign to reduce negative perceptions towards the Staffie and to promote responsible dog ownership.

The event, which takes place from 11am to 4.30pm, promises to be a fun day out for all the family, with a “huge variety of stalls and games”, according to the charity.

There will also be a bouncy castle, tombola and lucky dips.

The charity is hosting a fun dog show starting at 12pm. All breeds will be welcome.

The categories include: Cutest Puppy (under one year), Best Child Handler, Golden Oldie (over eight years), Favourite Crossbread, Best Rescue, Waggiest Tail, Most Lookalike (owners and dogs), Most Handsome Male, Prettiest Bitch, and Dog The Judge Would Most Like To Take Home

Entry for the event is free. There will be food and other refreshments available.
