A £27million block of 113 flats is nearing completion in central Bournemouth.

Bournemouth councillors and other partners in the scheme were given a tour of the show apartment at Berry Court on a former car park at St Peter’s Road.

The scheme has been built by housing provider Radian and Bournemouth Development Company, which is a partnership of Bournemouth council and developer Morgan Sindall.

It includes two and three bedroom flats as well as penthouses, rented through Radian’s lettings service SMART.

Bournemouth council leader Cllr John Beesley cut the ribbon to officially launch the show home.

He said: “Berry Court plays an important part in Bournemouth’s Town Centre Vision, and we are pleased that we have been able to replace this former car park with 113 new homes as well as more parking spaces.”

Mick Sweeney, chief executive of Radian, said: “Berry Court is a great example of successful partnership working between a housing association, the local authority and the private sector. We want to build more homes across a variety of tenures, giving people the flexibility to choose the right home that suits their housing need. We look forward to welcoming our residents into their new homes in the summer.”

Duncan Johnston, development director of Bournemouth Development Company, said: “Unveiling the new show apartment is a great milestone for Berry Court. People can come and see for themselves the quality they can expect from the new apartments which are ideal for young professionals, families and downsizers who want to live in the centre of Bournemouth.”
