WORK to resurface Chapel Gate roundabout, which was scheduled to take place Thursday and Friday night, has been postponed.

Engineers were due to be working overnight to treat the road surface just months after a major improvement scheme was completed.

However, due to “material supply issues”, the work has been postponed, Dorset County Council said.

They apologised for the “further delay” and said they would be updating road users when new dates for the work are confirmed.

Last year a £1.65m scheme by Dorset County Council was completed as part of Dorset Local Enterprise Partnership’s BIG programme.

However, within weeks the road surface was no longer fit for purpose.

Initially the remedial work was planned for Easter, but this was pushed back due to cold weather.

The roundabout will be surfaced, as well as around 30 metres on each approach and the dedicated slip lane.
