A KEEN photographer is calling on the public’s help to solve the mystery of this picture taken at Durdle Door.

Jack Lodge, 24, from Corfe Mullen, visited the beauty spot with a friend in the early hours of Saturday morning to shoot the Milky Way.

After taking a picture of the famous arch, Jack noticed a blue light in the waves which has since left him puzzled.

He said: “I saw it on the back of the camera. It took about 20 seconds to take the picture.

“I called my friend straight over, he tried to take a few pictures and couldn’t get it.”

After posting the pictures on his Facebook page, some people had suggested the light may have actually been bioluminescent algae.

Jack said there had been people stood on the clifftop who were wearing headtorches at the time which may have created the effect.

He said: “There were three people on the beach from Edinburgh who walked past and they couldn’t believe it either.”
