A CHIROPRACTIC clinic near Christchurch town centre could make way for a block of 11 flats.
Plans have been submitted by Holton Homes to Christchurch Borough Council seeking permission to demolish the existing building at Twynham Avenue which operates as Christchurch Chiropractic Centre.
If approved, the proposals will see a four-storey building, featuring 11 two-bed flats, in place of the current of structure.
Although the site is just outside the Christchurch central conservation area, a heritage statement has been submitted. The report outlines why the applicants believe the plans do not have an adverse affect on the conservation area
The statement, which was submitted on behalf of the applicants by Pure Town Planning, says: "The proposed development will accommodate a detached 4 storey block of 11 flats and will positively contribute to the character and appearance of the area without detrimental harm to the setting of the adjacent conservation area.
"The proposed development will not adversely affect a local heritage asset by reason of its design, siting, reinforced boundary treatment and limited abutting nature to the conservation area."
Residents have until May 8 to comment on the scheme.
