SUNSEEKER International has announced its support of the Macmillan Dorset Bike Ride for the 13th year.

The annual charity event, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, takes place on July 1, with cyclists of all ages and abilities encouraged to ride 10, 25, 38, 48, 63 or 100 miles in aid of the cause.

Almost 18,000 riders have taken part in the ride since it began in 1989, and the charity has raised more than £1.4 million over the last 30 years. Last year's event saw more than 725 cyclists raise a total of £76.000, a total which organiser Peter Smith-Nicholls is aiming to smash this year, with a £100,00 target set in his sights.

Sunseeker and Macmillan are now encouraging volunteers to sign up for the ride, which helps to fund vital care and support networks for those diagnosed with cancer. To help raise this figure, the organisers have launched a ‘Give 30’ campaign to encourage supporters to give a little more in the event’s 30th year.

Peter said: “There are a number of ways cyclists can ‘Give 30’ when they enter, but our campaign is not just about giving money, it’s about giving time too. We are seeking volunteers who will give anything from 30 minutes to 30 hours in support of the ride and on the day itself.

"We are extremely proud of the amount we have raised over the last 30 years and we are hoping to exceed the £1.5million mark this July but really need more riders to sign up.”
