IS it not time the councils tackled the main cause of congestion - the school run? So many schools are in one area. Canford Heath, for example, has six schools in a two-mile radius. There are two schools either end of Adastral Road, which is the main road on and off the Heath into Poole. Also you have Gravel Hill nearby, which has grammar schools. All exits are bumper to bumper, all with roundabouts. All the schools are a walkable distance. It’s the same wherever you go. When the schools are on holiday the traffic is manageable. Reading Friday's Echo (April 20) and the proposed cycle scheme, will this include schools?
The council and utility companies are the biggest contributor to congestion by poor planning of roadworks and poor timings on traffic lights. I am driving most of the day with my job and I am all over Poole at different times of the day. This problem will not go away, it will only get worse.
