A NEW temporary speed limit will be in place on the A338 Spur Road for two weeks while an inspection over potential 'remedial' work is carried out.
Officials at Dorset County Council have announced a stretch of some 5.9 miles will be subject to a 50 mile per hour speed limit between April 26 and May 10.
Both sides of the carriageway will be reviewed, and lanes may be closed during the works.
The closure will allow Dorset Highways crews to carry out 'surveying and possible remedial work' on the route.
A spokesperson from Dorset County Council said engineers will check the road surface and carry out any needed repairs.
The slower speed limit is necessary to ensure work can be carried out safely, it was said.
Major work was carried out on the Spur Road in 2015 to rebuild the carriageway.
