Firefighters were called to store in Bournemouth town centre at Thursday lunchtime.
A fire was reported at the Sony Centre in Westover Road at 12.56pm.
However, the small fire in a light fitting on the ground floor was quickly dealt with using a fire extinguisher.
The incident was finished at 1.12pm.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Because of the type of premises, we sent three fire engines – Springbourne, Redhill Park and Westbourne, together with the aerial appliance from Westbourne, but they were all turned back quite quickly.”
