AN array of exciting challenges are taking place throughout the year, to raise vital funds for children and adults with disabilities.

Dorset disability charity Diverse Abilities is urging people to sign up to the fun events, to make a huge difference to the families throughout the county that they support through a range of services.

The successful Totally Wiped Out event, based on TV game shows like Wipe Out and Gladiator, will return for another year, with a day at Canford School in Wimborne on July 1. Teams of eight to ten are required to take part and the cost per team is £60 until April 1, then increasing to £120 per team. Minimum sponsorship per team is £600. New this year is a special obstacle course for those aged between seven and 16 which is £5 to enter.

Those looking for something more adventurous can take part in a 10,000ft skydive, or The Firewalk Challenge, which takes place at Tower Park on November 17. Entry for the latter event is £20 per person.

Lauren McCullough, events manager at Diverse Abilities, said: “Fundraising for us has never been more fun. We wanted to encourage people to take part in something which would be an amazing experience for them whilst raising vital funds we need to run our services. These events do not require any training, so sign up and look forward to the fun ahead.”

Your fundraising could achieve the daily cost to run the advice service to provide guidance and support, specialist toys for children with disabilities to play with, a day’s vital medical supplies for the children at the charity’s specialist school and much more.
