A DAD of two has hit out over the state of a children’s play park in Poole after finding human excrement and drug paraphernalia.

Ceri Miles, 35, who lives in the Westbourne area, took his three-year-old and six-month-old daughters to the Princess Gardens Play Area at the end of Princess Road on Sunday, March 11.

During his visit, he found human excrement covering the inside of a tea cup ride as well as modified pipes made from beer cans which are used to smoke heroin.

He said: “I found human excrement and these modified pipes and I knew exactly what they were being used for.”

“A previous time, a couple of people, a man and a woman, got into a fist fight and one of the them ended up in the hedge. They were really drunk.”

“It’s a kid’s park, why is it being used as a recreation area for drug users?

“It’s not safe or a nice environment. We try and avoid it as the beach is better looked after.

“I only really noticed the modified pipes on Sunday but there’s been smashed beer bottles up there for a while. It’s an ongoing saga”

He added: “The drugs paraphernalia and dog mess is just about as bad as you can get.”

“My daughter run up to the teacup ride and went to jump on it before she stepped back and said ‘what’s that daddy?’”

Mr Miles said he'd also seen a tent at the play area during a previous visit.

He also raised concerns over the amount of dog mess in the grassy area of the park and said his daughter had ended up with dog mess on her on three separate occasions.

“Once there was another kid who walked in dog mess and then without knowing, went on the playground and the equipment was covered in it,” he added.

Lucy Giles-Townsend, parks supervisor at Borough of Poole, said: “We have not received complaints about the condition of Princess Gardens, so we would like to thank the resident for bringing this matter to our attention. A cleansing crew has been sent to the park to clean and disinfect the affected areas.”
