A FANCY dress fun run in aid of the Steve Bernard Foundation raised £2,000.

More than 80 people took part in the annual event, organised to mark Stevie B's birthday.

Those who participated in the event, which started and finished at Boscombe Pier, travelled from as far afield as the Midlands, Bracknell and Chichester.

The foundation was set up in memory of Steve Bernard, who died in a car crash in November 2005, just months after starting university in Chichester.

The 18-year-old was a keen sportsman and money from the foundation is used to support sporting projects across Bournemouth, Dorset and along the south coast.

To date more than £330,000 has been raised and 200 projects have been supported covering 30 spots and four continents.

The foundation is run by volunteers.

Steve's dad, Tony, said of the latest event: "There were some amazing outfits and it didn't rain again - we've been very lucky with teh weather over the years."
