A DANCER and model who died at Lulworth Castle’s Bestival music festival had ketamine and ecstasy in her bloodstream, an inquest has heard.

Louella Eve Fletcher-Michie died at the Purbeck festival in the early hours of Monday, September 11, 2017, on her 25th birthday.

At a hearing in Bournemouth, Dorset Coroner Rachael Griffin opened and adjourned an inquest into her death.

During the short hearing the court was told how an initial postmortem examination failed to show how Miss Fletcher-Michie had died.

However, following toxicology reports the provisional cause of death was given as sudden unexpected death, following the use of ketamine and MDMA (ecstasy).

The court also heard the young dancer would have suffered a ‘subsequent prolonged episode of altered behaviour including agitation, physical exertion, restraint and possible positional airway compromise’.

The body of the Londoner was found in a wooded area on the edge of the festival site.

She was formally identified by her father the following day.

During the hearing, coroner’s officer Nikki Muller told the court: “Police had been called to the Bestival site following reports of an unresponsive female who had been found in the festival grounds.

“Police have attended the incident where the young female is identified as Miss Fletcher-Michie. Dorset Police and HM Coroner are making further enquiries

Miss Fletcher-Michie was the daughter of Holby City actor John Michie, 60, and wife Carol, a former Hot Gossip singer.

The inquest has been adjourned until June 25.

Earlier this month Ceon Broughton, aged 28, of Enfield, London, was arrested and charged with manslaughter. Broughton, who was known to Miss Fletcher-Michie, had initially been arrested on suspicion of murder and released under investigation.

Following the latest charges, senior district crown prosecutor for the CPS in Wessex, John Montague, confirmed: “Following a careful review of the evidence provided to me by Dorset Police I have authorised the charge ofCeon Broughton with an offence of manslaughter by gross negligence, following the death of Louella Fletcher-Michie on September 11 2017 at Bestival, which was held in Dorset.”

Broughton is due to appear before magistrates in Poole on Friday, March 23.
