THE prospect of snow this week looks more likely following a weather warning from the Met Office.
A yellow warning has been issued for the Dorset area, warning of snow and strong winds for Thursday. Snow showers are also expected on Wednesday morning.

Heavier snow is predicted in many other parts of the country.
In Dorset, temperatures are expected to plummet to minus six. Current forecasts suggest there will be snow in the area on Wednesday morning until about 11am and then for most of the day on Thursday.

The UK assessment from the chief forecaster said: " There is uncertainty in the extent of snow. However, there is the potential for 5-10cm of snow in places where showers become more frequent, or in association with the more persistent band of snow. Nearby locations may see much less snow and only small accumulations of 0-2cm in places.
“Strong winds will lead to drifting of lying snow, with lightning an additional hazard, particularly near North Sea coasts.”
The Met Office warns that there could be delays on roads and cancellations to rail and air travel. Some rural communities could become cut off and power cuts may also occur.
