AN ASSAULT course on Bournemouth beach that attracted more than 200 people last year won’t be returning for 2018.

The SandStorm event saw competitors tackle a 5km twice on the beach to raise money for the RNLI.

Competitors took on 20 obstacles, which included the ‘Rescue Run’, ‘Beach Burn’ and ‘Coastal Clamber’.

The inaugural event at the end of last March saw around 220 people take part with more than £10,000 raised through sign up fees alone.

A spokesperson for the RNLI said: “We’re not running Sandstorm in 2018, but the information from the pilot event last year is being used to help develop other fundraising initiatives and we may revisit the Sandstorm event again in the future.”
