TREMORS were felt in Dorset on Saturday following a 4.4  magnitude earthquake in Wales.

The British Geological Survey (BGS) is investigating reports of a tremor in the south west of England and south Wales.

People across the regions said they felt what they thought was an earthquake this afternoon at around 2.30pm.

Alison Jennings said she felt two tremors at around 2.30pm.

She said was in her apartment in Owls Road, Boscombe Spa, when it happened.

She said: "You could definitely feel two tremors. They were literally one after the other."

"We felt one before in Japan so we knew what it was."

She added: "It wasn't the sort of earthquake that sent things rattling but you could feel it five floors up."

Graham Woolf recorded the earthquake on his seismograph in his conservatory in Ringwood.

He said: "My seismograph is a Raspberry Pi computer with an attachment that you plug into your device and it records Earthquakes.”

“I didn’t actually feel anything, but, my seismograph recorded it."

Bournemouth Echo:

"I’ve only had it for about six months and I’ve recorded earthquakes from other areas in the world, such as the one in Mexico City a few days ago, but nothing as local as this today."

"My wife was the one who saw that was going off today."

Other Echo readers also reported feeling the tremors across Poole and Bournemouth.

Frazer Hockey said: "I was sat at Lake Pier in Hamworthy, looking out at the water, i was sat in the car at about 2.30pm and suddenly the car started jolting backwards; it was a weird jolting feeling I hadn’t experienced before.

"Once I got home and saw that someone sent me a link about an earthquake I knew what it was.

"I would have never known until i got home and checked.

"I just thought it was a bit of strong wind,

"I thought nothing of it and then when I got home and checked the link then I knew what it was, I knew it was an earthquake.”

Moira Anderson-Ford said she felt the whole house move near Knighton Heath Golf Club.
