A SPEED camera van has been enforcing the temporary 30mph limit through the A35 Upton Bypass bridge works this week.
Figures show 222 road workers were injured in the UK during 2016. Commenting on Dorset Police’s facebook page, a police spokesman said: “There is no excuse for speeding and you’ve been warned.”
Dorset County Council has also deployed emotive signage showing a young girl with the words ‘My daddy works here. Please drive carefully and show respect’.
A county council spokesman explained: “For our workforce roadworks are their office. Instead of wearing a suit, our guys wear hi-viz and a hard hat.
“The signs are a reminder to drivers that the speed limit is there for a reason – to protect the workers.”
Traffic restrictions are scheduled to remain in place on the A35 until mid-April.
