A concert of solo performances by students at Thomas Hardye School will be coming to the Corn Exchange later this month.

The performances will be by sixth-form students who are taking music A-level at the school.

The concerts are an opportunity for people to hear the talented local students as well as helping them prepare for their A-level performance exams.

The annual concerts have grown more and more popular in the last 10 years and as ever there will be a great variety of music, and a great deal of talent, on show.

Peter Oakes, music teacher at the Thomas Hardye School, presents the concerts each year. He said: "It has always been one of the pleasures of teaching music at Hardye’s that I have been involved with arranging student performances of this sort.

"Every year, members of the audience, both from Dorset and also visitors to the town, come up to me afterwards and tell me how surprised they are at the high standard of the music-making. We at Hardye’s are used to such standards."

The performances will be taking place on Thursday, February 22 and Wednesday, February 28 at 1pm.

Both the events are free but donations are welcome.
