The driver of a tipper truck that flipped onto its side during an accident on the A35 Christchurch Bypass earlier this morning has been taken to hospital as a precaution.

Police said the driver was "not thought to have sustained serious injuries" during the incident, which unfolded close to the Somerford roundabout around 7am.

The vehicle involved was a white Nissan Tipper.

Road closures were put in place to allow recovery of the truck. The road was fully reopened and recovery completed by 8.36am.
