DORSET Local Enterprise Partnership says improving transport in Dorset is essential for economic growth.
Last month it was revealed that Bournemouth is the sixth most congested town in the UK, costing its businesses as much as £9.27 million a year, up £1.3m from 2016.
The partnership says transport infrastructure "needs to be a priority for Government funding in order for the region to reach its economic potential".
Director Lorna Carver said: "An improved transport and digital infrastructure for Dorset is fundamental to supporting local economic growth.
"A better connected Dorset helps create the right conditions for businesses to thrive and for more highly skilled jobs and housing to be created."
The LEP, alongside Bournemouth and Dorset councils, is currently carrying out the Bournemouth International Growth (BIG) Programme with £45.2m in Government funding for road improvements along the A338 Spur Road and B3073.
Work is under way or completed at Parley Cross and Blackwater, and pending on the Hurn roundabout and the proposed new junction of the A338 providing access to the business-earmarked Wessex Fields site and Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
