A COUNCIL is set to move to a smaller and more economical building next month.

North Dorset District Council (NDDC) will move to the Nordon Lodge on Thursday, February 15, with service beginning at 10am.

The building is a few metres away from its current office and still on the Nordon site.

Cllr Graham Carr-Jones, leader of NDDC, said: “The Nordon Lodge has been re-designed internally to make it more customer-friendly and accessible. Customers will be able to access services via touchscreen self-service computers and phones in our reception area, as well as through appointments and surgeries with duty officers.

“We will continue to provide services from our smaller office through appointments and surgeries from duty officers.”

Cllr Michael Roake, NDDC's cabinet member for environment, said: “The Nordon Lodge is easily accessible from Salisbury Road and clear signage will be in place to direct customers.

“The sale of the rest of the Nordon site is conditional upon the site gaining approval of its outline planning application. Upon approval, the developer will then be required to submit a further, more detailed application for approval.”
